A Springer Spaniels temperament is excelent and make good family dogs. The typical Springer Spaniel is friendly, eager to please, quick to learn and willing to obey. The way they look at you for the next comand is amazing. Springer Spaniels are an affectionate and easy-going family dog, but its alertness and attentiveness make it the ideal hunting companion.
Springer Spaniels have exceptional stamina and needs moderate amounts of activity, to focus its mind and to provide exercise, although this is different for each dog. English Springers need plenty of exercise in order to run off their excess energy. Its long-legged build makes it among the fastest of the spaniels. Your Springer Spaneil should be taken for regular walks no matter the weather or they can get frustrated
Springer Spaniels are a sociable breed that enjoys the company of children and handles the company of other pets well, except birds due to their nature, however they can become aggressive to other dogs of the same sex. If left alone for too long, they can become destructive and mischievous through boredom. They love the water, and tend to get wet whenever they have the chance, this includes muddy puddles which they love to walk through, so make sure you have pleanty of towles.
Some English Springer Spaniels develop a serious temperament disorder that causes sudden flare ups of extreme dominance or aggression. This disorder appears suddenly and apparently out of the blue in a previously-normal Springer. The cause of this is unknown, although some studies have suggested it is linked to brain seizures.
